By considering the importance of the technology of composite
materials and structures and its fast development in various
Iranian industries, establishment of a center as a unit of
research, development and education is necessary.
To achieve this goal, Iran University of Science and Technology
in cooperation with Technology Cooperation Office of Iran
Presidency (TCO) has established Iran Composites Institute
(ICI). This institute has been founded in 1999 to provide a
center for research and development of composite materials and
structures.
By considering the participation mechanical engineering,
materials and metallurgical engineering and chemistry
engineering in the technology of composite materials and
structures, the institute has become a center to gather experts
and professors from the aforementioned departments. Different
subjects such as various resins and fibers, manufacturing and
production methods and design of composite structures are
investigated in the institute.
Close relationship and cooperation with different composite
industries are the goals of Iran Composites Institute (ICI).
Also, ICI established a comprehensive program for training of
workers, technicians and expert engineers in composite
materials.
